GAN ERDENE TSEND
The artist Gan-Erdene Tsend was born and raised in Mongolia and obtained his master at the Master School Münster. In a moving way, the artists picks out interpersonal encounters and the feelings linked to it as a central theme.
Within his “reflection”-series the artist paints real and surreal elements on different reality and awareness levels, which is supposed to enable the spectator to see his own story in the picture. Tsend’s works often deceive the recipient by making one believe that he or she is able to see the sheathing of the real individuals in the reflecting surfaces of the water puddles. The use of divergences between the reflecting image and the real images make it possible for Tsend to contrast the differences between two worlds. Is it a memory of an experience from the past or is it the vision of a longed for life? The artist successfully depicts abstract feelings by playing with reflections and reality. Tsend’s works address a wide range of emotions from a threatening feeling of loss, memories, loneliness and doubts to positive sensations of hope, love, passion, confidence and longing. Thereby, he reflects the “Zeitgeist” of today’s world, which is influenced by the crisis of a society that is unsettled by current politics.
