Besides photography, Georg Küttinger was also involved with architecture, which becomes very much apparent in his approach and handling of photography. His drawn-out formats show mountains, fields or other images taken from nature, such as trees or water falls. They are defined by a strong rhythm and order. Yet, looking at the works more thoroughly the spectator realises that they are unnatural and modified. Küttinger treats his works like architectural elements and by doing so creates a new landscape that resembles modern buildings. Straight lines, bright colours and clarity are characteristics of his works. His landscapes appear like tender water colour paintings that seem eternally calm. Küttinger's works represent harmonies far away from the turbulences of everyday life. However, they are not simply depictions of nature, but also of architecture. This reflects the human need for stability and continuity.
